Where to Stay & Eat |
At the end of a long day on a camel or
cruising down the Niger River, your hotel or campground can provide a
welcome respite...and many a weary traveler have been more than happy to
hear the refreshing sound of an air conditioner kick in after a day in the
hot Saharan sun.
Gao has 11 hotels and camp grounds for you to choose from. They are spread out throughout town - from the Hotel Atlantide sitting right next to the hustle and bustle of the main market place to the Sahara Passion tucked in a quiet neighborhood. These 11 hotels include a wide variety of price options to meet every budgetary need - from the simple rooms of Camping Bangu to the three-room air-conditioned suite at the Bel-Air that has hosted more than a few visiting ambassadors. Some of our hotels also offer air-conditioned meeting spaces and offices that can be used for events or work. And, don't forget, most of our hotels also offer meals as well and will happily cook local specialities, like capitaine or wigila, for you upon your request. While reservations are not required, during busy periods and the high tourist season, you may not find your first choice available. Sometimes a particular hotel may be completely booked by a development project or government delegation, so checking ahead isn't a bad idea. There are also many different restaurant options for your stay in Gao. And, while Gao is not known for its night life, there are several bars and night clubs that have nightly music and sometimes live musical performances. We are sure that you will be able to find a hotel and restaurant to meet your needs during your visit to Gao.
