Source du Nord
- Located conveniently next to Gao's main marketplace, the Source du Nord prepares a different traditional plate every day of the week.  In addition
, a wide variety of West African and European dishes can be found on the menu and made to order.  You can also order ahead for certain delicious regional specialities, like wigila.

Espace Cultural Songha - At the end of the Boulevard des Askias, this pleasant outdoor restaurant serves up wonderful meat skewers as well as tasty nmes, which is Mali's version of an egg-roll with ground meat inside.

Ptisserie Le Tobon - On the airport road, this new eatery has a variety of pastries as well as a full lunch and dinner menu of European and African dishes, including cheeseburgers, pizzas, and rotisserie chicken.

Le Petit Restaurant - Run capably by Oumar, a cheerful Algerian of Berber descent, the Petit Restaurant is a favorite with ex-pats and Tuaregs alike.  The food is simple, but inexpensive, always ready, and always tasty.  Drinks are ice cold and so is the water.

Rotisserie Dr. Wan Clause - The "Pharmacy de la Sant" is a famous meat restaurant in Gao.  Try the only item on the menu (other than cold drinks), succulent sheep meat marinated and smoked for hours in huge cookers.  It's conveniently sold in any quantity of 500 CFA.  If you're feeling more adventurous, step up to the plate for a smoked sheep head for only 1500 CFA.
